Language Enhancement Center
The Language Enhancement Center at Payap University provides programs to learn the Thai language or English from beginner level to academic standard.
The Language Enhancement Center, or LEC, teaches languages to adults and children in order to help communicate with people around the world. The LEC strives to be the first choice in people’s mind when they think about learning a language in Chiang Mai.
Intensive Thai Program
Available at Payap’s well known and established Language Enhancement Centre (LEC). This is one of the most popular and respected Thai language courses for foreigners in Chiang Mai.
These study programs are for non-native speakers of Thai and are offered in module format. They range from Thai 1 (Beginner – basic listening and speaking) through to Thai 8 (Thai for academic and literacy).
Intensive English Program
The Intensive English Program is ideal for students who want to study a university course in English.
An intensive 180-hour course which gives you a great chance to become a lot better at English.
There are three levels, elementary, intermediate and advanced, and it takes one semester to complete each level. Students who complete the advanced level will have learned the skills they need to successfully study in English at university level.
A TOEFL, IELTS or Payap Proficiency Test score and/or an oral interview are used to work out the applicant’s English level in order to place the student at the most beneficial level of instruction. Students are expected to attend all classes in which they are placed

The Language Enhancement Center (LEC) is located on the second floor of the Sirindhorn Learning Resources Center (or Main Library Building), Payap University (Mae Khao Campus).
